It’s no secret that Buick makes some fine looking cars. Image is central to the brand, after all, and if you’ve been around many Buicks, you know they literally shine, especially under a spotlight. The 2014 Buick LaCrosse is no exception, with dazzling chrome on all four sides of the vehicle, from the waterfall grille on the front, to the trim on the windows. What may surprise you is how well a nice looking car like the LaCrosse performs once you put a V-6 under the hood.
Motor Trend did just that, testing out the 2014 LaCrosse V-6 last week. The 3.6-liter engine provides 304 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque. They clocked it doing 0 to 60 mph in just 6.6 seconds, which places it well within the pack of other cars in its class. The 2014 LaCrosse also posted an improved fuel economy, boasting 18 miles-per-gallon in the city, and 28 on the highway.
Inside, all is calm. It’s the lush, hushed interior you expect from a luxury sedan of the LaCrosse’s caliber. The wood trim finish and ambient lighting is visually appealing, and heated slash cooled front seats with perforated leather upholstery are available, as well as a heated, leather-bound steering wheel. You have the option of OnStar or an integrated navigation system, and the dash employs capacitive-touch heating and ventilation controls.
Of course, the 2014 LaCrosse rounds out its package with the latest in advanced safety features, including Forward Collision Alert technology, blind-zone monitoring and collision detection systems, and Buick’s Safety Alert Seat, which will buzz the driver when it detects a possible hazard.
